Lacon Childe School
Pupils at Lacon Childe Sports College in Cleobury Mortimer, near Kidderminster are benefiting from the recently completed sports facility by Kestrel (Contractors) Limited.
The College can now boast some of the countries finest sporting facilities thanks to the work undertaken on behalf of Shropshire County Council by Kestrel.
The scope of the works involved construction of a full specification natural grass football pitch plus a rugby pitch and a technical area which will be used for training / warm ups.
A 3rd Generation Tiger turf Challenger rubber crumb filled long pile synthetic surface was laid onto an engineered base. This product uniquely allows both football & hockey to be played on the same surface is passed for approval at both FA and IHF levels. Fencing & floodlights were also installed which enable these facilities to be used in the evenings after school and at the weekends.
To ensure that all sports were catered for; two Multi Use Game Areas (MUGA'S) were constructed allowing other sports such as tennis, basketball and netball to be played. The Multi Use Games Area was situated adjacent to the 3rd Generation surface to ensure that Lacon Childe had the best artificial sports surface options available.
Cricket practice nets and a skateboard facility park and ramps were also constructed completing the overhaul of the college’s facilities.

Therefore the site at Lacon Childe comprised of natural sports pitch construction, artificial and natural cricket net construction plus the construction of two multi use games areas and a 3rd Generation hockey & football surface. That's not to mention the floodlighting, fencing, cycle paths, soft landscaping and skatepark!
