Kestrel undertook 3 projects on behalf of Schools owned by Cognita Schools, 2 design and build artificial turf pitch constructions and a synthetic surface installation.

Downsend Preparatory School

The scope of works for the project at Downsend Preparatory School included the design and build of a three quarter size sand dressed artificial turf hocked pitch with fencing and floodlighting.

The pitch, which meets FIH testing requirements, was constructed with an engineered base which incorporated 2 layers of macadam and a 15mm insitu shockpad overlaid by an 18mm sand dressed artficial turf.

The surface is primarily a high quality hockey surface but is suitable for netball, football, tennis and even basketball to a good recreational level providing an ideal surface for schools who need to accommodate a variety of curriculum sports.

   

Akeley Wood Senior School

Kestrel constructed a full size (7,072 sq metre) sand dressed artificial turf hockey pitch construction with associated fencing at Akeley Wood Senior School, Bucks.

The surface was built to the same specification as Downsend Preparatory School with an engineered base and FIH certified artificial turf system.

The project was so successful that the School have asked Kestrel back to construct them an artificial turf cricket net facility.

Meon Cross School

Meon Cross School upgraded their existing macadam 'playground' area by contracting Kestrel to install a 15mm insitu shockpad and an 18mm sand dressed synthetic turf hockey surface.
