Premier League clubs Reading and Southampton looked local when it came to re-turfing goalmouths at their respective training grounds.
“Regardless of the time and effort that is put into maintaining goalmouths particularly in training pitches, it is well nigh impossible to keep grass cover throughout the winter months” said Adam Grantham, Head Groundsman at Readings Hogwood Park training ground.
Kestrel Contractor supplied and laid the fibre based 40mm thick Big Roll turf in 1.2metre wide rolls which ensured that the goalkeepers kept off my case. In the modern era it has to be right when it comes to turf quality and installation. Kestrel delivered on both counts.
The Reading turf project was closely followed by an order from Southampton Football Club. Kestrel has been working on the new Marchwood Training Ground refit since last spring and it was Andy Gray the Grounds Manager who requested Kestrel to lay the same turf as Reading on their newly built training pitch.
“Confidence in the contractor is essential” said Andy, “We’ve worked with Kestrel long enough now to know that they can deliver to the high standard set at Southampton FC”.
