Type of installation: Sports Facility Upgrade Contract
Kestrel Contractors have recently completed the successful design and construction of another new state of the art full size 3rd Generation artificial football pitch for Bulford Army Barracks, nr Salisbury, Wiltshire.
The new all-weather football pitch which was completed in October has been subsequently tested and certified to EN15330-1:2007 (Football) standards by leading independent test house Sportslabs.
The project is the second full size 3G artificial football pitch completed for Aspire Defence in the last two years, following the facility successfully constructed at Aldershot Army Barracks, Hampshire in the summer of 2010.
Both 106 x 70m surfaces utilised a dense hard wearing long pile monofilament artificial grass laid over a dynamic stone base and were surrounded by a 3 and 4m high powder coated green twinbar weldmesh perimeter fencing system.
With a further ten 3rd Generation artificial training pitches for football, six porous macadam tennis courts and numerous natural grass rugby, football and training pitches also constructed across six barracks over the course of a 7 year period it has been a lengthy, high profile and valuable contract for Kestrel.
The works have been carried out for a variety of main contractors all under the guidance of Aspire Defence, who are executing a £1.2bn contract which runs until 2016 to improve facilities at Aldershot and across Salisbury Plain (Tidworth, Bulford, Perham Down, Larkhill and Warminster).
With further works scheduled for 2013 Kestrel hope to continue in the same vein and provide high quality sports facilities for the countries valued servicemen and women.
