DESIGN > CONSTRUCTION > DRAINAGE > RENOVATION > MAINTENANCE
Kestrel Contractors are one of the leading natural rugby pitch construction and renovation experts in the UK, carrying out rugby turf installations and drainage throughout England, Scotland & Wales.
We have an impressive CV of professional rugby clubs, schools and amateur sports clubs, we also work with local authorities many who have been clients for over fifteen years.
The majority of our work is carried out for grass root amateur rugby clubs often funded through the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and Sport England.
Rugby played on natural grass is probably the most difficult to sustain grass cover on throughout the playing season. Scrums in particular, tear up the grass & soil leaving the surface unstable. What works in football scenarios does not necessary apply in rugby, both union & league. An in-depth understanding of the playing surface design, construction and maintenance is vital, which is why we have a team of highly trained professionals to help you get the most out of your turf.
Kestrel offer specialist services, from a design evaluation, to carry out site investigations to determine ground conditions and site surveys to quantify the volume of earthworks required. This is carried right through to choosing the right grass seed mixture and cultivars for the particular environment the field is situated in.
At the point of your enquiry or site visit, we look to understand not just your budgets or objectives but seek to offer sustainable solutions to ensure the pitch surfaces continue to function over the years. We will advise you on the best way to maintain your natural rugby pitch so you can keep it at a high standard all year round.
We aim to build long standing relationships and for customers to come back to us because we’ve delivered ongoing.
From the estimator visiting your site to discuss your requirements through to the maintenance team responsible for the grass sward quality at handover, you can be assured we are ‘on-side’ and playing as a team.

‘Rugby is great. The players don’t wear helmets or padding; they just beat the living daylights out of each other and then go for a beer. I love that.’
